Is it appropriate to put client financial data into Claude?

On the paid Cowork plan, Anthropic does not train on your conversations. For client financial data, most firms use anonymized references — removing client names and using reference codes where possible. Check your firm's data handling policy and review the DPA to ensure it aligns with your professional obligations under the AICPA Code of Professional Conduct and IRC §7216 on taxpayer information.

Can Claude replace specialist accounting software?
