Is Claude Cowork safe to use with client files?

On the paid Claude Cowork plan, Anthropic does not use your conversations to train their models. Most firms remove identifying client information before pasting into any AI tool — using matter references rather than client names. We recommend reviewing the DPA and obtaining sign-off from your COLP before use with any client-related content.

Are there professional conduct implications?

Using AI to assist with drafting is not inherently a conduct issue — the fee-earner remains professionally responsible for every document they produce. The SRA's guidance on AI is evolving; check the current position and ensure your firm has an appropriate AI acceptable use policy.
