Short answer: Yes — as of October 2026, Claude builds Google Slides natively from a sidebar inside Slides. It uses your deck’s existing layouts and theme (fonts, colours, brand), generates slides from a text brief, converts documents into decks, and runs readability passes. Works on all paid Claude plans.

Short version: Claude lives in Google Slides as a sidebar (launched 6 October 2026 as part of Claude for Google Workspace). It builds slides using your deck’s existing theme and layouts, which means decks come out looking like your decks, not generic AI output.

This guide covers what Claude can do in Slides, how it respects your brand, five high-leverage workflows, and the limits worth knowing about.

What Claude does in Google Slides

Builds slides from your deck’s theme

This is the headline feature. Claude reads your deck’s master layouts, fonts, and colours, and builds new slides that match. If your firm has a branded template, Claude uses it. Slides come out looking like your firm, not a generic template.

Content-first slide generation

Describe what you want: "6-slide pitch deck for a UK professional services client in [industry]". Claude generates a full deck with titles, bullet content, and the right slide order, all using your existing theme.

Readability checks

Claude reviews a deck for: overlapping elements, text too small for projection, inconsistent capitalisation across titles, slides where the key message isn’t immediately clear. Delivers fixes as suggestions.

Theme application

Paste a slide from another deck in. Claude reformats it to match the current deck’s theme — fonts, colours, layout patterns — while keeping the content intact.

Document-to-deck conversion

Point Claude at a long document or report. It converts the content into a slide-deck structure — one slide per major section, clear titles, 3-5 bullet points per slide.

How to install it

  1. Open any Google Slides deck
  2. Extensions menu → Add-ons → Get add-ons → search "Claude"
  3. Install, sign in with your paid Claude account
  4. Sidebar now available: Extensions → Claude → Open

Single install covers Docs, Sheets, and Slides. Paid Claude plans only.

5 high-leverage workflows

1. Client pitch deck from a one-line brief

Open a new deck using your firm’s existing branded template. Prompt:

Prompt: "Build a 6-slide pitch deck using this deck’s existing layouts and theme. The client is [client/industry]. We’re proposing [service/approach]. Structure: 1) Cover, 2) Their challenge, 3) Our approach, 4) The outcome they can expect, 5) Pricing summary, 6) Next steps. Confident, not salesy. British English."

2. Convert a Word doc or report into a deck

Already have the content written up as a document? Prompt:

Prompt: "Convert the content from [other document reference] into a presentation. One slide per major section. Use this deck’s existing theme. Each slide should have a clear title and 3-5 bullet points max. Add a cover slide and a closing ‘next steps’ slide."

3. Weekly team update deck

Paste the week’s notes. Prompt:

Prompt: "Build a 4-slide weekly team update deck from these notes. Slide 1: Headlines this week. Slide 2: Wins (3-4 bullets). Slide 3: Blockers / help needed. Slide 4: Priorities for next week. Use this deck’s existing theme."

4. Pre-meeting readability pass

You’re about to present. Prompt:

Prompt: "Review every slide in this deck. Flag: overlapping elements, text smaller than 16pt (unreadable at projection size), inconsistent capitalisation in titles, slides where the key message isn’t obvious in 5 seconds. Deliver fixes as suggestions."

5. Apply your theme to pasted-in slides

You’ve pasted content from another deck. Prompt:

Prompt: "Reformat these pasted-in slides to match this deck’s existing theme, fonts, colours, and layout style. Keep all content intact."

What Claude's good at vs where to still use a designer

Excellent at: content structure, slide-by-slide copy, consistent application of your existing theme, readability checks, document-to-deck conversion, speed for internal and standard-template client decks.

Not a replacement for: original visual design (brand creation, novel layouts, custom illustration), high-end pitch decks that need bespoke creative direction, infographic-heavy decks that need custom charts and diagrams.

Rough rule: if your deck is in a template that already exists, Claude is probably faster than doing it yourself. If the deck needs to be a creative departure from your usual look, start with a designer and let Claude handle the content fill-in.

Which Claude plans include this?

All paid plans — Claude Pro (£16/mo), Team, and Enterprise. Free tier doesn’t include the Workspace integration. Enterprise adds admin controls like Compliance API and customer-managed encryption keys.
