Short answer: Yes — via Claude Design, Anthropic’s design product launched in April 2026. Standard text Claude doesn’t generate photorealistic images directly (that’s what Midjourney and DALL-E do). But Claude Design produces the entire visual asset a small business actually needs — pitch decks, posters, invitations, marketing collateral, app mockups — from a text brief, with your brand automatically applied.
This question comes up a lot because there are two different products both called "Claude" and it’s confusing. Here’s the honest picture of what generates what.
The two Claudes
| Product | What it generates | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Cowork (text) | Text, code, analysis, structured data | claude.ai (chat) |
| Claude Design | Visual designs — decks, posters, mockups, marketing collateral | claude.ai/design |
Both are included in the same Claude Pro subscription (£16-17/month). Claude Design is not a separate product to buy — if you have Pro, you have both.
What Claude Design actually generates
Not AI photos. What a small business graphic designer would produce:
- Pitch decks — branded slide decks (10-30 slides), export to PDF or PowerPoint. From a text brief in under 10 minutes
- Posters — A3, A4, print-ready with 3mm bleed and crop marks. For events, promotions, notices
- Event invitations — digital or print, wedding, corporate, conference
- Social media graphics — sized correctly per platform (LinkedIn, Instagram, X)
- Marketing brochures — tri-fold, bi-fold, single-page
- Business cards, letterheads, roll-up banners — the whole stationery kit
- App and website mockups — screens, interactive prototypes you can share by link
- One-page reports — branded, executive-facing, exportable to PDF
- Landing pages — full HTML that you can host or hand to a developer
What Claude Design doesn’t do (and what to use instead)
| You need | Better tool |
|---|---|
| Photorealistic AI images (a portrait, a landscape, an object) | Midjourney (~£10/mo) or DALL-E via ChatGPT |
| Logo design from scratch | Human designer — brand identity work is worth investing in properly |
| Video generation | Runway, Pika, Sora, Google Veo (2026 crop of AI video tools) |
| Photo editing (retouching, colour correction) | Photoshop or free equivalents like Photopea |
| 3D rendering | Specialist 3D AI tools (Meshy, Rodin) |
The killer feature: design system imports
In June 2026 Anthropic launched design system imports for Claude Design. This is what makes it genuinely useful for a business (not just a novelty).
You import your brand once — three options:
- Upload assets — your logo, colours, past marketing materials. Claude extracts your brand tokens
- GitHub import — if your website is coded, connect the repo and Claude pulls your Tailwind config or CSS variables directly
- Design tokens file — if you already have a formal design system, upload it as JSON
From then on, every design in that project inherits your brand automatically — correct colours, correct fonts, correct spacing. No more re-prompting brand values every time. Claude even checks its own output against your system and offers a fix if it drifts.
Real UK small business examples
1. Estate agent: monthly property listings poster
Instead of paying £80-150 to a designer for a monthly market update poster, an estate agent can produce it in Claude Design in 5 minutes:
Create an A3 print-ready poster titled “This Month in the [AREA] Property Market — [MONTH YEAR]”.
Layout: header with agency logo top-left. Three stat blocks below (average price, days on market, number of listings). Below that: two-column comparison of what’s changed vs last month. Bottom: three featured properties (address, price, main feature). Footer: agency contact.
Use our brand colours and fonts. Print-ready PDF with 3mm bleed.2. Consultant: pitch deck for a new prospect
Build a 12-slide pitch deck for [PROSPECT COMPANY] — a UK [INDUSTRY] business. Their pain: [SPECIFIC PROBLEM]. Our offer: [YOUR SERVICE].
Slides:
1. Cover with our logo + their name
2. The problem in one sentence
3. Why now
4. Our approach (3 bullets)
5. Case study: how we helped a similar client
6. Team credibility
7. Proposed engagement structure
8. Deliverables per stage
9. Timeline
10. Investment
11. Next steps
12. Contact
Use our brand. Export as PowerPoint (they can edit).3. Restaurant / hospitality: event invitation
Design a print-ready A5 invitation for our [EVENT NAME] on [DATE].
Front: brand logo, event name in editorial serif, date and time, one-line description.
Back: menu highlights, dress code, RSVP contact.
Use our brand palette. Feel: warm, hand-illustrated feel — not corporate. Print with bleed and crop marks.4. Marketing agency: client social media pack
Create a monthly social media graphic pack for [CLIENT]:
- 4 x LinkedIn post images (1200x628) with quote overlays
- 4 x Instagram square posts (1080x1080)
- 4 x Instagram story frames (1080x1920)
All matching client brand. Content themes: [TOPIC 1], [TOPIC 2], [TOPIC 3], [TOPIC 4].
Export as folder of PNGs at correct sizes for each platform.Cost comparison
Traditional stack for the same output:
- Canva Pro: £12/mo
- Adobe Creative Cloud: £55/mo (if you actually use full suite)
- An AI image tool (Midjourney): £10/mo
- Freelance designer for anything custom: £50-200 per project
Claude Design + Claude Cowork: £16-17/mo total. For a small business producing 5-15 branded assets per month, the maths is hard to argue with.
The learning curve
Genuinely low if you already write good briefs. If you don’t, Claude Design will still produce something, but the quality gap between good briefs and vague ones is huge. The single most useful skill: learning to describe design outcomes in words. Our Claude Design course modules teach exactly this.
Getting started (10 minutes)
- Go to claude.ai/design (sign in with your existing Claude account)
- Create a new project for your business
- Import your brand — upload logo, screenshot your website, or paste your brand hex codes
- Try a simple first brief: "Design a LinkedIn banner for [YOUR BUSINESS] featuring our tagline [TAGLINE]"
- Iterate a couple of times, then export
Our full Claude Design pillar page covers everything Claude Design can do, and the course covers structured workflows for pitch decks, marketing collateral, and app mockups. Or take the free 2-min AI Readiness Quiz.
